During a wonderful holiday in beautiful Angelsey earlier this year, I took some walks with my family exploring the extraordinary countryside and stunning coastline. The hedgerows were filled with glorious flowers and foliage, and soon I couldn't help gathering a collection to photograph and sketch. These amazingly resilient yet delicate looking plants simply amaze me, despite extreme weather conditions they thrive, defy and overcome these difficult conditions giving us this visual splendour.

I've been busy making these for an exhibition, hopefully going to be transformed into something amazing. I'll keep you posted.
I've recently finished the second of my 'Garlands' series, Summer's End. It's at the framers at the moment so I can't give the exact measurements but its approximately 34x55cm. The first in the series was Winter's End which was in the Capability Brown exhibition at Chirk Castle. The exhibition was a great success and we've apparently been invited back which is fantastic news.
I recently completed a lovely commission for a wedding present, I was asked to include some of the bride-to-be's flowers from her bouquet with a few added extra's to incorporate the brides personality and favourite colours. I really enjoyed working on this piece and working with Liz to come up with something that both the Bride and Groom would cherish as a memory of their special day. Below are a few images in a little slide show to show my development. This weekend I took part in the Wirral Open Studios Tour, it was my first time opening up my studio so I wasn't sure what to expect but I had a fantastic weekend and met some wonderful people. I would like to say that everyone involved with organising this event did an amazing job.
Thank you to everyone that supported me and visited me over the weekend and for everyone's positive and encouraging comments. Just taken this work as well as my 'Seasons' series to Staacks Gallery in West Kirby where it will be shown throughout June. Its a great gallery space with lots of natural light where you can also get wonderful hand made cakes in their café. The owners are lovely and I can guarantee a warm welcome. 'Bounce' second in my 'Out of the Box' series off to the framers ready for 'All Squared' exhibition at Willow Gallery in Oswestry in July
I've been busy working on a new project, something a little bit different from my previous pieces and a bit of an experiment. This work if for an exhibition called Cabinet of Curiosities at The Chapel Gallery in Ormskirk ( dates to be confirmed). I will be exhibiting with 'Re-View' which is a group of talented textile artists that push the boundaries of textiles and its classification of craft. It was my intention to produce a three-dimensional piece of work, contained within a glass domed cloche. Inside will be a world full of ‘micro-blooms’, influenced by botanical illustrations of the late nineteenth century and inspired by the Victorian fascination of decorative arts and the preservation and presentation of nature under glass domes. I'm really excited to be taking part in this years Wirral Open Studios Tour on June 11th and 12th. If your in the area please come and pay me a visit.
