I still have a couple of spaces left on my 2 day Design-2-Stitch workshop on October 22nd & 23rd. These workshops take place at my studio at home and I only have 4 students at any time so you are guaranteed lots of one to one. They are informal, relaxed and friendly. As long as you have a little bit of experience with free machine stitching/embroidery then this workshop is great for anyone.
Take a look at the 2 day workshop page on my website for more details. I've got quite a lot on over the next few months, all very exciting:-
31st August - 29th September, 'War and Peace' , with Cheshire Artists Network, Chester Cathedral, Chester 3rd September - 27th October, 'Carousel' Series at The Willow Gallery, Oswestry 26th September - 6th November, 'Small World', with Re-View Textiles, Quaker Café, Liverpool 1st November - 17th November, 'H2O' with ConText, Blue Moon Gallery, Heswall, Wirral 9th December, Art Fair and Exhibition with Cheshire Artist Network, Abbeywood Gardens, Delamere, Cheshire Here's just a few images of the work that you can see at these exhibitions. I had a fantastic week mixing business with pleasure in London, exhibiting at the Society of Designer Craftsmen's annual exhibition at The Chelsea College of Art and taking some of the family to do some sight seeing. Lovely time, great experience but now, despite the incredible heat and the lazy attitude it creates in me I am back in the (very hot) studio to get on with some work.
What's Next!.......
Had a fantastic weekend taking part in the Wirral Open Studio's Tour, lots of lovely visitors, wonderful comments and happy customers but now its time to focus on my next big event of the year....... I will be taking part in the Society of Designer Craftsmen annual exhibition at Chelsea College of Art, The University of the Arts London. I am so excited and honoured to be taking part alongside some truly talented and inspirational artists and craftsmen. Come and Visit Us
This time next week I will be opening up my studio again for the Wirral Open Studios Tour. This year Clare Watson will be with me at my studio showing her beautiful ceramics. The Open Studios is a great opportunity to get to talk to artists about their work and how its created as well as experience their working environment, so please come along and visit me and Clare in my studio for a chat and possibly a cup of tea and a biscuit. See you there Many people will be getting an influx of emails requesting confirmation of consent for them to retain their emails and other personal information. On this basis, I just want to reassure anyone that contacts me via my contact page for any reason that I do not store or keep lists of these emails when our correspondence is completed.
If anyone has booked a workshop with me and completed a booking form then this form is securely kept and destroyed after the workshop date. Here is a collage of just some of the fantastic work that was produced over the last couple of days during my 2 day workshop. Over the two days we explored the design process through visual research, drawing and design development and translating the drawings into free machine stitched samples.
Thank you ladies for all of your hard work, I have thoroughly enjoyed your company over the last couple of days. You can view details of my 2 day workshops and availability on my website www.joannefrankel.co.uk and contact me through the 'contact page' to enquire about bookings. I was honoured to be invited along to 'Touchwood' this weekend at Marbury Park in Northwich. The exhibition from a local group of contemporary textile artists that meet at the park had some stunning pieces of work inspired by the surrounding woodland and parkland.
This is Lorraine Finches beautiful piece of work which she designed and developed during one of my two day workshops. Keep up the good work all the ladies of the 'Textiles in the Park' textile art group and thank you very much for inviting me. I have finally finished this particularly large piece called 'Beginnings', it is part of my 'Collection of Rarities' series. I imagine it to be a prelude to my cabinets, an aquarium of micro-organisms where the samples have been collected from.
